Couple of Thoughts/Ideas

Just wanted to throw out a couple of ideas that I hope CraftStudio will offer....

    1) An installer for newly created games, with some basic customization of course.

    2) A patcher to have live updates/patches for our games. (i.e. - check a server for the current version and download, etc.)

All in due time of course :)

I'm absolutely ok with 1), but for 2)... i think it's asking too much, at least for free, i mean, having a patcher means having a service like Steam does, and that is beyond craftstudio first features, don't get me wrong, that would be sweet, but i see it's more suitable as an added service, that would cost money for server space and bandwidth transfer, and should be done from fast lines, like amazon services...

...Or you are thinking about the feature to be available from the craftstudio server software, so you install the server in your machine (or your amazon services) and people gets updates from you, not from a centralized server?

As far as the patcher, I wasn't really thinking a centralized server b/c that would along the lines of Steam and cost a lot of money and resources.

I was thinking along the lines of the developer would upload a version file to their own website via ftp and have patch files available if their is a new version that the game would download.

Sharing your game with CraftStudio Alpha will require you to zip it yourself (I'll add instructions to the wiki), but in the long run an installer makes sense, of course.

When installing a game from the CraftStudio store, I'd like to support automatic updating. Hopefully I'll then be able to allow people to setup their own update delivery server when not using the built-in store to distribute your game. (Just the vague plan from where I stand right now)

Had another thought (thinking about my game), with the terrain generation idea, it would be great to be able to procedurally generate terrain (i-e: have sliders for amount of water, vegetation, type of climate, etc.) I can't go into a lot of detail until my game idea reveal at a later date :D
